After! | The Project-Per-Month Project v.2 pt.2 |

I put the finishing decorative touches on the laundry room re-do yesterday afternoon, and I couldn't wait until next week to show you the space, so we're skipping the Friday Finds!

Here's what I started with.

And now the afters!

And no laundry room is complete without the actual laundry, so I give you (a tame version of) Mount Laundry.

I love it so much. I don't think my photography skills (Hahahahahahahahahaha!) do it justice, but I love it all.

Another thing that I am thrilled about it that this whole thing only cost me $37.50, so I came in $12.50 under the budget that I set. I wanted to replace the light fixture because the one in there is lame, but then I realized that oh yeah, I'm the only one that sees it since I'm the only one who does laundry, so I decided to just stay under budget and get over the light fixture.

The first thing I did was clear this room out. There was so much crap that had no business being in there, but it's convenient to just shove crap in there and shut the door. Once I cleared everything out, there really wasn't that much that actually needed to be on the shelves.

Every single thing in this space, I already had on hand. I majorly shopped the house on this one. My only purchases were the gorgeous(!) scalloped bunting from my freaking awesome friend, Stephanie from Sand & Starfish, and the so cute, so perfect print from another freaking awesome friend, Leonora of Yellow Heart Art. In my inspiration board for this project, I had included her undies pillows. I asked her about making me a print of them, and she's a rockstar and made it happen for me.

I finished the major parts of this project weeks ago, and I think the fact that I actually like the space now has motivated me to keep it clean and clear of crap because it has actually stayed this way.

Here are some more before/afters.

Since we are about halfway through June already, I'm making my June project-per-month an easy one.

I'm not loving this wall in my office. I want to do a re-do. My budget for this project is $10.00.

Yep,  just $10.00, and I think I can make it a wall I love.

What are you working on lately?

Building shockingly nothing right now. GASP! We're in between projects right now, and enjoying a little break. Next on the building list is a dresser for the boys. We spontaneously decided to sell their old one in our April garage sale. And by we, I mean I. The thing was a cheap score, but it ended up that we got what we paid for, and it sucked ass. So, I kissed it (a very happy) goodbye, and currently our boys each have a laundry basket to contain their undies, socks, pj's, shorts, and t-shirts. It's as ridiculous as you might think. The dresser needs to happen.

Forming ideas for a little somethin somethin for the shop. Coming soon!!

Sharing every single thing in my house with my kids. Seriously, when you have kids, nothing belongs to you (or your husband). I can't even list all of the things that my two have swiped, stolen, sneaked, straight up taken in front of my face from me (and my hubby) this week. I'm feeling a bit territorial, and like I need locks for a lot of things that I adamantly feel are MINE ONLY.

Dreading next week. My Hero will be out of town all week, and in addition to that, my parents will be on a lovely 7 day cruise. With My Hero being out of town all week, I will not have my usual 6 hour per week sanity break. My parents being on a cruise doesn't directly affect me or my life, they don't live here, but every time I think of them I'll remember that they are enjoying an amazing vacation with no responsibilities, and not a care in the world while I am in the midst of the parental trenches with no break on the horizon. Also, I'm dreading the impending morbid phone call from my mother where she explains where all the necessary documents are should her and my dad both, you know, um stop having a heartbeat during their vacation. Ugh.

Singing country songs nonstop. I have a musical rotation. In the fall and winter, I love me some hip hop and R&B. In the spring it's a mix of pop, hip hop, and country. In the summer it becomes almost exclusively country, with the exception of a catchy pop or hip hop song here or there.

Rocket Party! | Featuring Where the Green Grass Grows Designs |

Andrea from Where the Green Grass Grows Designs contacted me in the shop in April about doing a custom sign for her son's birthday party. I was thrilled to work on the sign for her. Custom orders are some of my very favorite things to work on.

At the same time that her and I were discussing her custom piece, I was also working on plans to expand the shop. My hopes were to expand the shop in to the party scene. Birthdays, anniversary, weddings, etc!

So I emailed Andrea about making several custom signs for her to coordinate with the party theme for her son's birthday.

She agreed, and I got busy making rocket themed signs.

Andrea is such an awesome party planner. The details that she thought of for her son's party are just amazing.

I'm so thrilled and excited that my signs were a part of her party decor!

Do you have a party coming up? Check out Andrea's site! You will be blown away.

Coveting "me time" or really just some peace and quiet time where I can reclaim my sanity. Our babysitter (who I will now solely refer to as "My Hero" in any and all posts mentioning her) has been away this week on a (well deserved, absolutely encouraged) vacation with her sweet family. In addition to her being away, this week has been an abnormally busy week for me with Father's Day quickly approaching. So yeah, I am jonesing for a break from the

"I'm hungry!"

"Can you raise/lower/raise/lower/raise/lower the basketball hoop?"

"HE HIT ME!"

"MOMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!"

and my very favorite, "MOM! COME LOOK!"

Imagining what it would be like to have my toes in the water, ass in the sand, not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand. In other words, I'm imagining what it would be like to be sitting on a tropical beach on an extended vacation.

Asking Captain if he knows who the baby is in a stack of pictures that I found over the weekend, and then cracking up when he scrunches up his face at me and says, "That's me!". He hates when I get all cutesy and tell him things like, "OH MY GOSH!!! You were the cutest!! Look how CUTE!!!" He hates it, and I love saying it because the scrunched up face he makes at me when I say those things is insanely cute. Plus he was so stinkin CUTE!! I miss baby Captain.

Saving (for) HA. Honestly, there's not much "saving for" going on around here. We are busy trying to pay things down (or OFF!), so the "saving for" thing will come soon!

Fearing ever making a trip to our local Walmart again. I have always hated Walmart with a passion, but unfortunately, it's a necessary evil many times. Target, Super Target, Sam's, or any place that is not Walmart is at least a 45 minute round trip for me. Walmart is about a 5 minute round trip from me. But our local Walmart has started this insanely awful renovation project. The aisles are so skinny that two carts can't fit through, which means you are trapped until the person in front of you, or behind you exits the aisle. Nothing is where it's supposed to be. And best of all, the employees seem to have all completely lost their shit. Maybe it's the chemicals that they've been breathing in from the whole flooring removal/replacement. When you think of Walmart, and it ignites terror inside of you, imagine a Walmart where you can't escape aisles, nothing is where you expect it to be, and the employees are completely insane. It's a whole different level of terror.

Ice, Ice, Baby.

I consulted Instagram a couple months ago about what I should use to fill the space above our fridge.

The majority said booze.

And I'm never ever opposed to booze filling up a space, so I went with that idea.

I intended to find some awesome wine rack to put on top of our fridge and then stock it full of delicious wine, but the wine racks that I loved were very pricey, and I don't have much of a "fun money" cash flow these days.

So I decided to use what I had around to fill the space.

The husband and I have been keeping empty whiskey, wine, and rum bottles in the garage just in case I felt the need for a craft project, and I was definitely feeling the need.

So I took all of the bottles and cleared the labels off of them. Then I took some of the bottles that were clear or an ugly color, and spray painted them with glossy white. The ones that had awesome coloring or a cool clear shape, I left as is.

Then I added in a DIY sign using pieces from a pallet that we've had sitting around in our garage for a year.

I threw in a couple of cheap, flowery stems from Hobby Lobby, and called this project done.

I love it with my whole heart. I think that it all fills the space perfectly.

Total cost... About $1.73 plus the cost of the liquor from the awesome decorative bottles, which we would have consumed anyway, so I say this project cost a grand total of $1.73.

Win!

Borrowing movies from Redbox and Amazon a lot more lately, although now I think we've watched everything that we care to watch. All of our shows are done for the season, and even though I could watch my favorite stuff over and over, and not ever get tired of it, my man is not the same. The favorite part of my day is sitting down at the end of a day with my hubby and watching funny TV. So, throw suggestions my way! We love funny stuff. Any TV series that we should try out? Or standup? We love standup. I need some new stuff. It's a long time until fall tv.

Dancing a happy dance every time the sitter comes to watch the boys. She is my hero. I tell her that all the time, but I think she thinks I'm just being funny, when actually she really is my hero. 6 hours a week of peace and work, and going solo to get groceries. Amazing.

Building a fence around our back porch. Well, the husband built it of course. I took pictures, and held the level from time to time. Our "big" dog, Taylor, is a German Shorthaired Pointer that we adopted a few years ago. We do not hunt, and the birds that she was murdering a couple weeks ago seem to have sent a message to the rest of the birds to stay the hell away from our yard, so she's not getting any hunting action in that way either. Since we've had her, her substitute for the hunting instinct that is born into her seems to be fly hunting. She is a (very serious, very successful) hunter of flies. Which means a 7,946 times a day she jumps up the walls of the porch, and really any part of the house that she has access to from the yard. So about 3 or 4 feet up from the ground all around the siding of the house is muddy puppy footprints. It looks as awesome as you would imagine, but she takes her fly hunting very seriously, and there's no stopping her. So, we built a fence. I think she pretty much hates it, but we actually get to have a porch now. With chairs and everything. Whattttt. I'll share the before and after pictures with you soon(ish).

Throwing a birthday BBQ for the husband next weekend, and I think I'm more excited than he is. I'm look very very forward to having more adults then kids at my house, and also great food, cake, liquor, and conversations that don't start off with , "MOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!"

Buying so.much.food. I'm terrified of the amount I will have to spend on groceries when my boys are teenagers. Hold me.

What are you borrowing, dancing, building, throwing, and buying?
